MBA ORG/535 Prior Learning Assessment Package 

Question:
What is the MBA ORG/535 Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Package and I can I sign up to take it?
Answer:
As you start your MBA Program, there are some options that you as a student have available to you to reduce the time it takes to get to graduation as well as reduce the cost. One of those options is the ORG/535 Prior Learning Assessment Package. You can start this option once you are in your first class and can continue working on the PLA option as you work through your first four classes. Here are some details for you below:
  1. ORG/535 - People and Organizations is the actual course. The PLA ORG/535 Package replaces this course on your schedule once completed.

  2. Both your Enrollment Representative and Academic Counselor can help enroll you into the PLA ORG/535 Package
  3. There is only a $99 cost assessed once your credits are applied to your program using the PLA ORG/535 Package. If you do not finish the PLA ORG/535 Package, there is no cost to you.  
    • The cost per credit hour to take the course is $698.00.  The course is 3 credits.  
  4. The PLA Package consists of a Journal/Essay to be written and a 100 question assessment demonstrating leadership skills. It also includes submission of supporting documentation that lets the University know that you have experience in or currently are in a leadership role.  
    • The topics for the journal and assessment cover the student learning objectives that would be covered if the course is taken.
  5. The PLA offering can be completed at any time during the first half of your program. From the time you start up to 24 weeks, is the time recommended to complete. All courses in Tier 1 (first 15 credits or 5 courses) are required to be completed (these are prerequisites) to move into the back half of your program. If you cannot complete the PLA Package, you may still schedule the course and complete that. If you feel that you still want additional time to complete the PLA package, you may discuss your options with your Academic Counselor towards the end of your Tier 1 courses.
  6. You will complete this offering within Blackboard just like you would do with your other courses. The look and feel will be the same for the PLA Package and a standard course.
