Learn-Practice-Apply

College of Business and Information Technology (CBIT) courses follow the Learn-Practice-Apply model.

Learn: Learn activities are intended to provide information that helps facilitate your learning. Learn activities do not earn points and have no due date.

Practice: Practice assignments are intended to help you review and test your learning each week. Practice assignments are due day 5. You usually earn points for your highest score, and sometimes you earn points for completing the practice assignment.

Apply: Apply assignments are worth more points than practice assignments and are designed for you to demonstrate your learning. You are encouraged to complete Learn activities and Practice assignments before completing your Apply assignments.

Each of your Apply assignments builds to the next Apply assignment. You are essentially going to be researching the mission, vision, values, and culture of an organization you selected of the 8 cases listed in the folder on the main course page and then identifying opportunities (through a SWOT analysis) for improvement and establishing project plans for that change. It is getting you to apply everything you learned in this course and prior courses to these Apply assignments.

Apply assignments are due day 7.

Refer to Connect for the number of attempts allowed for each activity or assignment.

Completing Activities and Assignments in McGraw-Hill Connect®

Review the SmartBook Overview to prepare for completing your weekly activities and assignments in Connect.

Each week you will complete readings and activities in the SmartBook adaptive learning platform within McGraw-Hill Connect. These will help you focus on what you need to learn and study. Chapter sections will be recommended to you based on your performance. You will receive points for completing the SmartBook adaptive learning.

There is nothing to submit in Blackboard for Connect assignments. Your scores are automatically transferred from Connect to the Blackboard gradebook.

Note: Work in McGraw-Hill Connect does not count toward weekly attendance requirements.

Completing Signature Assignments

There are signature assignments in Wks 2, 4, and 5. A signature assignment is a tool the University uses to gather data to evaluate program/course effectiveness.

You will use rubrics to grade these assignments, which will produce the data. The rubric criteria are a clear explanation of what the student needs to do in order to demonstrate the aligned learning outcomes and to earn full points for the assignment.

To maintain the integrity of the data, please do not change the content of these assignments or the rubrics. If you notice an issue with an assignment or rubric, email your college as you would for normal issues.

Check Your Work for Plagiarism - SafeAssign Instructions

Your assignment submissions will automatically be checked for plagiarism by SafeAssign, a feature in Blackboard. SafeAssign compares your submission to a database of student work and the internet and then generates an Originality Report that you and your instructor can review. Review the full SafeAssign instructions to learn more about this feature.
