Student Online Classroom Supported Browsers Safari

Question:
What browsers are supported for students using a Mac?
Answer:
In order to ensure you have the best learning experience possible in the University of Phoenix online Classroom environment it is very important that you use supported web browsers. If you use a Mac, one of the most commonly used web browsers is Safari.

Students using version 5 of Safari will likely experience performance issues in the Classroom. If you are using that browser, you are encouraged to upgrade your browser as soon as you can.

First, check the version of Safari that you are currently using. Here’s how you do that:
1. Open Safari
2. Click on the Safari item on the top menu-bar (next to the Apple logo)
3. Click on the About Safari menu item
4. A small window should now show your current version of Safari
5. The number before the first dot (for example, 5.0.5) is the Major version number. This is the number that matters most.

Note: For optimal performance, you will want to download the most updated browser available for Mac. The most current version right now is version 7.

In order to upgrade to Safari 7, you’ll need to have the OS X Mavericks operating system. You can download this Operating System from the Mac App store. For more information click the following link http://www.apple.com/support/mac-apps/safari/ and click on the How to install Safari 7 link.

If you happen to have a Windows operating system it’s important to note that Apple no longer releases Safari for these operating systems. The last Safari version for Windows was version 5. In this situation it is advisable for you to download the most current version of Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox. Links to download each of these browsers can be found below
