Compile Error MyEducator
Symptom:
When opening a Word file from the MyEducator site I receive a message:
Compile error in hidden module: modApplicationSpecific. This error commonly occurs when code is incompatible with the version, platform, or architecture of this application. Click "Help" for information on how to correct this error.
Cause:
This can be caused by the following:
  • Not meeting the minimum system requirements
  • Microsoft Office needs to be updated
  • Incorrect version of Microsoft Office
  • File open in the browser
  • Save using the wrong file type
  • File is larger than 50 megabytes (MB)
  • Trying to upload a file that is saved OneDrive or other Cloud Based storage
Resolution:
To resolve the issue follow the steps below:
  • Make sure the operating system meets the minimum system requirements
  • Make sure that Microsoft Office is up to date
  • Ensure Microsoft Office 2013 or later (Windows) or 2016 or later (Mac) is being used
  • If the is opened in the browser close it - Always choose to Save or Save As
  • The file must be submitted in the .docm, .pptm, or .xlsm format. If it is save as another file type as this will alter the macro ability to compile
  • Ensure the file is smaller than 50 MB
  • File needs to be saved locally for macros to run successfully
