Required Course Undergraduate and Graduate Waivers

Question:
How do I waive a course from my required course of study (core)?
Answer:

To be eligible to waive required course of study (core) with credit, previously completed courses must meet all criteria below:

  • Accreditation: completed and transferred from a regionally or approved nationally accredited college or university
  • Level: equivalent level or higher (i.e. graduate level coursework may be used to waive graduate or undergraduate coursework)
  • Grade and timeframe: can vary by program. Refer to your Academic Catalog for specific time frames
  • Content and credit: must be comparable in content and semester academic credits to the University course being replaced

Note: Multiple courses from other institutions cannot be used to waive one University of Phoenix course unless directed by policy or approved via SAC appeal.

Note: Transfer courses must be a minimum of 2.67 semester credits to waive, with or without credit, a three (3) credit course. All students must meet the minimum upper division and total credit requirements, the remaining .33 credits may be satisfied using any excess credits of an equivalent level or higher.
