Creating Different Page Numbering Formats in a Single Microsoft Word Document

Question:
How do I create a Microsoft Word document that uses different page numbering formats (such as i, ii, iii on some pages and 1, 2, 3 on others)?
Answer:
To format the page numbering for different sections, follow these steps:
  1. Click between the two parts of the document that need different number formats
  2. Select the Page Layout tab
  3. Click Breaks
  4. Under Section Breaks, click Next Page, Continuous, Even Page, or Odd Page
  5. Click anywhere in the first section
  6. Select the Insert tab, select Page Number
  7. Click where to insert the page number
  8. In the Design tab, click Page Number
  9. Click Format Page Numbers...
  10. Select the appropriate type of numbering
  11. Click OK
  12. Click Close Header and Footer
  13. Click in the next section
  14. Repeat steps 8 through 12 for the page numbering in this section
The different page numbers should now be present in the document.
