Error Accessing Assignments in Blackboard
Symptom:
When attempting to access an Activity or Assignment, I receive the error:
Sorry! Your name is not on the list. Please check with your administrator if you need access to this page.
Cause:
This can be caused by one or more of the following:
  • Assignments and Discussions are outside the due date window.
Note: Assignments and Discussions become available three (3) or four (4) days prior to the start date of class.
  • The instructor has not made Assignments and Discussions available.
  • The faculty member has not assigned a due date to Assignments.
  • You have not been granted proper permissions to the classroom.
  • Caller may be on a work computer and working through a VPN
Resolution:
To resolve this issue, please perform one or more of the options below:
  • Verify course start date on the Student and Faculty Portal.
  • Confirm of proper scheduling and permissions to the course by contacting one of the following:
    • Enrollment Representative
    • Academic Counselor
  • Speak with your instructor to confirm the Assignment and Discussion dates are set up properly.
  • Check if the Gradebook and the Assignment has a line through it. If so, hide the assignment and make it visible again.
Note: Toggling visibility from Visible to Hidden and back to Visible even if the assignment does not have the line through it in the gradebook, may still resolve the issue
  • If the caller is working from home and on a work computer they may get that Your name isn't on the list. either have the student switch to their personal computer or have them restart their computer and NOT log into their VPN until after the complete their work
