Unable to Install Adobe Reader on Microsoft Windows 8
Symptom:
When trying to install Adobe Reader 11 on Microsoft Windows 8, nothing happens after I allow the changes on the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
Cause:
This issue may be caused by some issues within the Adobe Reader .exe installer.
Resolution:
This issue may be resolved by performing one or more of the following:
  • Restart computer and attempt to run previously downloaded .exe installer
  • Install Adobe Reader via the Microsoft Installer (MSI) by performing the following:
  1. Go to ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.00/en_US/
  2. Click AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi
  3. Click Save when prompted
  4. When download finishes, click Run
  5. Follow instructions on screen to install
