PDF Full Text Not Displaying in Google Chrome
Symptom:
When trying to view the PDF Full Text of an article from the University Library using Google Chrome, I get a blank (gray) page that never loads.
Cause:
This issue is caused by the Chrome PDF Viewer not being able to display the embedded .pdf.
Resolution:
To resolve this issue, perform one or more of the following:
  • Disable Chrome PDF Viewer
  1. Click Customize and Control (the button with three vertical dots)
  2. Click Settings
  3. Click Show advanced settings...
  4. Click Content settings... under Privacy
  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the settings and under PDF Documents, check the box next to open PDF files in the default PDF viewer application​​
  6. Restart Google Chrome (completely close all Chrome windows & reopen)
  • Open PDF document directly in Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • Use an alternate browser
