Question:
How do I restart or shut down my Microsoft Windows 8 or 8.1 computer?
Answer:
To restart or shut down your Windows 8 or 8.1 computer, perform the following:
Method 1
  1. Open the Charm Bar (press WinKey+C or hover mouse at bottom right corner of screen)
  2. Select Settings (gear icon) 
  3. Tap or click on Power 
  4. Tap or click Restart or Shut Down
     
Method 2
  1. On your keyboard, press the Ctrl+Alt+Del keys
  2. Tap or click on Power  in lower right corner
  3. Tap or click Restart or Shut Down
     
Method 3 (for Windows 8.1)
  1. Right click on the Start icon
  2. Tap or click Restart or Shut Down
Note: If there are updates pending, the options will be Update and Restart or Update and Shut Down
