Convert Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation to a Word Document

Question:
How do I convert a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation text to a Microsoft Word document (.DOC or .DOCX file types)?
Answer:
To convert text from Microsoft PowerPoint into a Microsoft Word document, perform one of the following:

Note: Speaker/Presenter notes cannot be exported from PowerPoint. These must be copied and pasted manually to a new Word document.

Create a Word document from PowerPoint 2003:
  1. Click File
  2. Click Send To
  3. Click Microsoft Office Word...
  4. Select Outline Only
Create a Word document from PowerPoint 2007:
  1. Click the Office Button
  2. Click Publish
  3. Click Create Handouts in Microsoft Office Word
  4. Select Outline Only
  5. Click OK
  6. Save the Microsoft Office Word document after it opens.
Create a Word document from PowerPoint 2010:
  1. Click File
  2. Select Save & Send
  3. Select Create Handouts
  4. Select Create Handouts
  5. Select Outline Only
  6. Click OK
  7. Save the Microsoft Office Word document after it opens.
Create a Word document from PowerPoint 2013 - 2016:
  1. Click File
    User-added image
  2. Select Export
    User-added image
  3. Select Create Handouts
    User-added image
  4. Select Create Handouts
  5. Select Outline Only
    User-added image
    Note: For some files, the "outline only" option in step 6 the directions may not work. Many of the slides and their content do not get rendered into Word. 
  6. Click OK
  7. Save the Microsoft Office Word document after it opens
Create a Word document from PowerPoint 2011 for Apple Macintosh:
  1. Click File
  2. Place the cursor on Send To
  3. Click Microsoft Word at the right of the menu
  4. Save the Microsoft Office Word document after it opens
Create a RTF for PowerPoint Office ProPlus for Apple Macintosh
Note: Unfortunately this options on Office 2016 is not available. There is no option for Online/Rich Text Format on the save as page, When exporting as RTF it only gives the first two slides.
    1. Click File
    2. Click Save As...
    3. Select Outline / Rich Text format (.rtf)
      User-added image
    4. Click Save
    5. Open Microsoft Word
    6. Click File
    7. Click Open
    8. Navigate to and select rtf file created
    9. Click Open
    10. Click File
    11. Click Save As...
    12. Select Format drop-down
    13. Select Word Document (.docx)
    14. Click Save
