Error When I Electronically Sign (E-Sign) the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Release Form
Symptom:
When I attempt to E-Sign the FERPA Release form, the following error occurs:
There was an error processing your request. Sorry, this page is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.
Cause:
This issue may occur due to one or more of the following reasons:
  • This error is caused by a special character (EX: Dr. instead of Drive, $,%, etc.) being entered in one of the fields on the form
  • Attempting to complete another FERPA release with identical information processed previously
  • Selecting more than one option under How do you want the information to be released? (By Mail, By Fax, or By Phone)
  • Not clicking the + Add Recipient(s) button after entering recipient information
Resolution:
To resolve the issue perform one or more of the following:
  • Remove all special characters in any of the form fields and attempt to submit the FERPA Release request again
  • Enter all information in all capital letters, or all lowercase, do not use mixed case
  • Contact Academic Counselor to cancel a previous FERPA release
  • Contact Technical Support requesting they check to see if a previous FERPA release has been processed
  • Select only 1 method (By Mail, By Fax, or By Phone) per request for how information is to be released
  • After entering the appropriate recipient information, click the + Add Recipient(s) button
Notes:
  • Admissions cannot remove a previous FERPA release.
  • To confirm FERPA form was submitted successfully look at the URL (web Address). At the end of the URL will have the word success after the forward slash.
Additional Information:
If the resolutions suggested above do not resolve the error, please contact the Office of Admissions and Records (OAR) to obtain a paper FERPA Release Form.
