Riverpoint Writer Opening Blank Microsoft Office Word Document
Symptom:
When attempting to launch Riverpoint Writer, a blank Microsoft Word document opens and not a startup screen prompt.
Cause:
This issue can be caused by one or both of the following:
  • Multiple versions of Microsoft Office are installed at the same time
  • Word is not set as the default program
Resolution:
To resolve this issue, please perform one or all of the following:
Riverpoint Writer
 
To enable normal Riverpoint Writer functionality, please follow one or more of the troubleshooting steps below:      
  • Ensure only one version of Microsoft Office is installed
  • Repair Office (Quick Repair should be sufficient)
  • Ensure Microsoft Office Word is the default program for Word documents
Note: Office Starter is not compatible with Riverpoint Writer as it does not have the ability to run macros, which are required for Riverpoint Writer to work. Please verify you are running a full version of Microsoft Office.
Set Default Word Program
 
To set Word as the default program in Microsoft Windows 10, please complete the following:      
  1. Right-click the Start button
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Select one of the following next to View by: to the upper-right:
    • Small icons
    • Large icons
  4. Click Default Programs
  5. Click Set your default programs
  6. Select Word (desktop app) under Programs to the left
  7. Click Set this program as default
  8. Click OK
  9. Close all windows
  10. Run Riverpoint Writer again
