The following is general information regarding workshops to enhance your skills in computer usage, Internet research, study skills, time management, APA formatting and other items:

Available Workshops

• New Student Orientation - This self-paced orientation prepares students for success in University of Phoenix programs. Students practice navigating the online classroom, explore university resources available to support student success, and become familiar with the university mission and learning goals, including the role of collaboration in the learning model..
• New Student Orientation (Self-Directed) - This self-directed orientation prepares students for success in University of Phoenix courses. Students identify their educational support system, practice navigating the online classroom, explore resources available to support success, and plan ahead for how to overcome common challenges during their educational journey..
• Success Strategies (Self-Directed) - This self-directed workshop provides University of Phoenix students with techniques that will aid them in their academic pursuits. Students learn effective ways to manage time and stress, study, set goals, use university resources and stay motivated. The workshop emphasizes the skills required to manage time and reduce stress. The workshop also introduces students to available university services.

• New Student Orientation workshops are offered every week. Other workshop offerings vary
• Registration varies based upon workshop type and start date
• Students have access to the workshop 24/7

Workshop Registration

To register for a workshop, perform the following:

1. Click the Program tab
2. Select Student Workshops under Student workshops on the right. It can also be found in the Library under Student Workshops
3. Select a workshop type under Workshop Categories
4. Click Show Available Workshops for the desired workshop
5. Click Register for the desired date of workshop

Note: Students will receive an email notification once access to the workshop has been granted. Generally, access is given on the day of the workshop between 12 and 3 p.m. MST time.

Workshop Completion

To confirm workshop completion, perform the following:

1. Click the Program tab
2. Click My Workshops in the lower right of the page
3. Click the Completed tab to confirm completion

Notes:

• Self-directed workshops will not show as completed when the workshop is over since there is no instructor to provide a grade for the workshop.
• Blackboard workshops will only appear if a student is registered for a Blackboard course.
